On Wednesday, March 6, Tesla unveiled V3 Supercharging, the next step in the growth of Tesla’s Supercharger network. V3 enables Tesla vehicles to charge faster than any other electric vehicle on the market today. In 5 minutes it can add 75 miles of range. Compare it to Level 2 charging stations that add 20 miles in 3.5 hours or Level 3 that add 90 miles in 30 or so minutes.
V3 Supercharging will ultimately cut the amount of time Tesla customers spend charging by an average of 50%.
This service will be available only on the Model 3 for now, but both Models S and X will receive software updates in the coming months to enable this rate of charge.
